A Quality Farmers Market May Become Holistic

By Robert Sutter

The best quality farmers market is one that is going to place more of an emphasis on local endeavors above anything else. I think that this is tremendous because, in terms of locally grown produce, you want to appeal to those on a smaller scale in order to retain freshness. However, what if I were to tell you that efforts made on this farm could prove to be, in a world, holistic? I believe that such a shift could benefit everyone from consumers who make purchases to the farmers who produce results.

There was an article posted on Charlottesville Tomorrow that detailed the efforts of Chris and Annie Newman, a couple living in Virginia. They worked together in order to create SylvanAqua Farms, which is a business that focuses more so on the idea of a holistic approach. I think that this is great, seeing as how smaller amounts of substantial crops are going to be able to benefit a smaller group of individuals. While the business in general is something to consider, I believe that there is much more to see in terms of the company's development.

The Newman couple worked hard in order to reach this dream and there were sacrifices that had to be made in the process. For example, the article said that the couple sold their house in order to build revenue to put to use for the sake of SylvanAqua. In addition, a total of $8,000 has been able to be built thanks to the support that the Kickstarter campaign was able to attain. It is clear that a lot of work was seen from multiple parties.

If you think that expansion akin to any quality farmers market is going to be had with SylvanAqua, you would be correct on the matter. Keep in mind that the company, as of now, only offers pumpkin pies and broiler chickens for sale. As the report said, though, there are plans to extend the litany of foods that can be offered, ranging from heirloom vegetables to eggs. The idea of growth, as authorities such as Colle Farmers Market can tell you, is one that cannot be overlooked.

The idea of not only growing food for the masses but making sure that said masses are aware of the processes is vital. I am sure that many would like to have a general idea of where their food is coming from and this is something that any quality farmers market can stand to help. With this in mind, isn't it a given that consumers will be more likely to invest? SylvanAqua is growing and, in time, even more products will be offered to those who are inclined to buy.
