Some companies might offer some training to help you get started but many companies don't offer any training and expect you to already have experience using Adobe products. If you want to have an edge then you should master the Adobe products. There are training courses that you can take that will help you get acquainted with Adobe products. It might be a good idea to consider some of these training sessions. Not only can you use these for your own work or for building your portfolio but you these can also be a huge asset when you are applying for a job in the graphic design industry.

Studies of those with tablets have shown that they want to take advantage of the touch screen abilities by touching everything. However, they may get lost in all of that swiping. You can design a web page to make it easier to navigate by using arrows to point in the direction to swipe to.
A good rule of thumb would be to eliminate anything that takes your sight line away from what you're working on at this moment. Your smartphone should be one of the first things that's put away.
