Things You Should Know About Minimalist Wrist Watch

By Sally Delacruz

Timing is everything, especially in this fast paced world of the new generation. People are all catching up and racing with time. Some wish they had more of it to accomplish all the things that they wanted so much to achieve. Some wish they could turn it back and start over.

Of the many things that humans have made to make life somewhat bearable and more comfortable, it is the clock that is most feared. It is a deeply ingrained habit for most to look at the clock every now and then. Due to the inherent fear of time, people wish to see it everywhere. They can be seen on walls, on tables, even as gadget widgets, and part of work ensembles in the shape of a minimalist wrist watch.

Wristwatches have not really caught up on public until the year 1868. Back then people were not really open to the idea of wearing one due to the popularity of pocket watches. Now it is considered a wardrobe by many. There are even some people who just do not feel right if they can not wear one on their wrist.

There are many reasons why most choose to buy and use these instruments to tell the time. Time is gold, and it is money. People are always particular about punctuality and lateness, which is why they wear it where they can see it easily. Before these gadgets came into being, people relied on the natural signs such as the length of shadows cast off by the sun. Before the era of the clock, people did not have synchronized times.

The primary reason why people acquire one is because they need constant reminders of the hour. Since it is attached to the wrist, it is also easy to steal glances at it. But, when it was first marketed, it was regarded as for use only by women. The first types had bracelet straps, which made it appear a bit girly.

The men only wore their clocks on their wrists during the war. They paid more emphasis to the pocket watch and dismissed the wrist type as only suitable for the ladies. But when they got in the way during warfare encounters, more males strapped their pocket watches on their wrists with leather straps.

When they became acceptable for men and women, everyone seemed to own one. This compelled watchmakers to make special ones in order for them not to lose their wealthy clientele. They thought of incorporating jewels and gemstones into the design. They also thought of using only the best materials. Thus, the wrist watch then became a status symbol. Those with fancier watches belong to the elite, and the average looking designs were for the common folk.

Now, they are standard pieces that are given away as gifts. Before cars had been popular graduation presents, wristwatches got there first. They are also given away during birthdays and anniversaries.

Even with the rise of modern gadgets, people simply can not part away with the good old wristwatch. Phones may have clocks, but there will be occasion where whipping them out is inappropriate. Phone models will also come and go, but a good watch stays forever. You can even pass it on to future generations.
